About the PositionThe Mississippi State Department of Health's mission is to protect and advance the health, well-being, and safety of everyone in Mississippi. Questions about this position can be directed to recruitment.gov. This is a time limited position that supports the department by providing training, guidance, and user support for the Epic Electronic Health Record system used across county health clinics statewide. The employee will deliver training for a wide range of learners, including clerical staff, nurses, community health workers, and licensed providers.
Responsibilities include creating and updating instructional materials such as user guides, presentations, and online training content, and ensuring information is presented clearly and effectively for adult learners. The employee will coordinate with UMMC Epic trainers and agency leaders to ensure training content aligns with current workflows, system updates, and public health requirements. The role provides ongoing technical assistance to end users through help desk support, coaching, and follow-up guidance.
The employee will assess learning needs, collect feedback, evaluate training effectiveness, and suggest improvements based on staff performance and user experience. Additional responsibilities include maintaining internal training resources, supporting new staff onboarding, and assisting with Epic. Experience in teaching and training facilitation is preferred, and experience supporting technology or electronic health record users is a plus. The selected candidate will be required to complete Epic credentialing through UMMC following hire.

Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to teach and support staff with varying skill levels, problem‑solving and troubleshooting confidence, adaptability to new workflows and technology, and willingness to learn Epic and obtain credentialing after hire.
