Overview

Job Summary:

To provide patient care to impaired or emotionally disturbed individuals under the direction of a nurse manager or charge nurse and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.

• Ability to recognize patients who are at risk for harming themselves or others.
• Ability to provide patient care and services.
• Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.

• Monitors patients' physical and emotional well-being and reports unusual behavior or physical ailment to nursing staff.
• Administers or observes treatment and personal care such as feeding, bathing, and other hygienic measures.
• Prepares patient, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and provides manual assistance as required.
• Escorts or transports patients to various hospital locations as directed. Restrains violent, potentially violent or suicidal patients by verbal or physical means as required.
• Collects specimens; takes and records measures of patient physical condition, using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges.
• Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent bending, frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
