Job SummaryTo serve as a leader in the pharmacy department by having ownership and accountability for a specific process. To ensure that pharmacy operations conform to established federal and state regulations, university policies, and procedures, and TJC standards and provide for the highest level of delivery of optimum pharmaceutical care.
Education & Experience- High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of pharmacy tech experience.
- Pharmacy Technician registration from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy.
- Pharmacy Technician Certified from the National Healthcare Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
- Completion of a pre‑employment drug screen required.
- Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescribed medications.
- Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, calculations, pharmaceutical techniques, and laws.
- Skill in use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Ability to maintain records and present findings in audits.
- Provides oversight and execution of advanced pharmacy technician processes, including but not limited to pharmacy automation, inventory management, clinical trial coordination, oversight of narcotic recordkeeping, reconciliation and regulatory requirements, medication procurement, specialty pharmacy processes, medication compounding, medication quality and safety, and other specialized services.
- Performs quality and safety assurance audits and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, TJC standards, and other site specific regulatory or accreditation requirements.
- Assist with procurement and acquisition of medical and pharmaceutical products as necessary.
- Coordinate daily technician workflows and ensure timely completion of assigned medication related tasks.
- Support onboarding, training, and competency assessments of new and existing staff.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and leadership to implement process improvements and workflow efficiencies.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement measures, maintain accurate documentation, and record and generate reports as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of medications and related transportation needed.
- Act as a liaison between pharmacy staff and other healthcare teams to facilitate service coordination.
