About the AgencyThe Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a qualified person to fill the role of a Senior Public Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support our enterprise hosted cloud environment built on commercial public cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Key duties involve architecting solutions, managing complex deployments, ensuring reliability, and troubleshooting issues in production.
- This role is involved in the configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of all tools needed to support enterprise public cloud services.
- In all capacities, the person filling this role works directly with operations staff, system specialists, agency technical staff, public cloud staff, and external contractors to ensure consistent delivery of related cloud services.
- Cloud Platforms:
Deep expertise in AWS. - IaC:
Terraform, Cloud Formation, Git Hub. - Scripting:
Python, Power Shell, Bash. - CI/CD:
Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions. - Networking:
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls. - Security: IAM, secrets management, compliance frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience of being a member of a highly technical and highly visible IT team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong desire to learn and stay current with the latest technologies and trends in the field.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 7-10+ years of IT experience with an emphasis in security and compliance. Agency Prefers:
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of IT experience with a strong emphasis in infrastructure engineering.
