Seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Cloud SME to lead architecture, deployment, and management of Azure and Azure Government cloud environments within a government contractor setting. This role involves supporting cloud modernization initiatives, ensuring security and compliance, and mentoring technical teams to optimize cloud operations.

Hybrid, must report onsite one week per month, Jackson, MS

Contract

Cloud (Azure and Azure Government) within a government contractor setting.

• Design, review, and implement secure and scalable Azure solutions aligned with organizational needs.
• Administer and maintain Azure commercial and Azure Government tenants, subscriptions, and Management Groups.
• Lead cloud modernization efforts by supporting migrations, application modernization, and Azure adoption initiatives.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using ARM Templates, Bicep, and Terraform to automate deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot complex networking, identity, compute, storage, and security issues across Azure environments.
• Support connectivity between Azure and on‑premises infrastructure via Express Route and VPN solutions.
• Partner with security teams to implement Azure governance, security best practices, and compliance controls such as Azure Policy, RBAC, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Mentor internal staff and agency personnel on Azure technologies and cloud best practices.
• Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to evaluate, integrate, and communicate cloud solutions effectively.

• Extensive hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure Virtual Networks, Microsoft Entra , Azure Functions, and Azure Resource Manager.
• Experience managing complex multi‑tenant and multi‑subscription Azure environments.
• Proven experience implementing and supporting Azure Landing Zones.
• Strong networking and connectivity troubleshooting experience, including Express Route and VPN technologies.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as ARM Templates, Bicep, and Terraform.
• Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, and CI/CD automation.
• Experience implementing Azure security and governance best practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven mentoring experience supporting knowledge transfer initiatives.

• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Dev Ops Engineer Expert.
• Experience working in government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, CJIS, IRS 1075.
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions and Azure Arc.
• Familiarity with AWS or other public cloud platforms.
• Working knowledge of Python, Bash, or Power Shell scripting.
