The RoleAs a Senior IT Engineering Lead, you will take on a technical leadership role, responsible for the strategic direction, design, administration, and optimization of Lumen's Software Asset Management (SAM) tools. You will serve as a subject matter expert, enhancing stability, scalability, and security across critical infrastructures, particularly focusing on Flexera One administration and server-based agent technologies. Working collaboratively with architecture, security, asset management, and operations teams, you will deliver reliable and cost-effective IT solutions.
TheMain Responsibilities
- Administer, optimize, and support Flexera One / Flex Net Manager Suite (FNMS), SaaS Manager, and other SAM tools.
- Manage FNMS Agent Administration: oversee deployment, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure accurate inventory, license compliance, and readiness for audits.
- Develop and maintain server and agent-based architectures to meet performance, scalability, and compliance standards.
- Lead in troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure and agent incidents.
- Act as the technical lead for enterprise IT engineering initiatives, guiding teams with mentorship and architectural insight.
- Create and enforce engineering standards, documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Identify and implement automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Support change management processes, including impact analysis, testing, and deployment planning.
- Assist with driving roadmap planning, evaluating technologies, and conducting proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in software engineering related to IT infrastructure or systems engineering.
- Hands‑on expertise in SAM Tool Administration, including inventory management, reconciliation, reporting, and integrations.
- Strong experience with Server Agent Administration across Windows and Linux environments.
- In‑depth knowledge of server infrastructure, operating systems, and enterprise monitoring tools.
- Experience in supporting large‑scale, distributed environments.
- Superior troubleshooting skills to resolve complex, cross‑platform issues.
- Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., Power Shell, Bash, Python).
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, and configuration management).
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and escalation point.
- Mentor junior engineers, advocating for engineering best practices.
- Exhibit ownership, accountability, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Background in Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) practices.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, SCCM, Intune, Chef, or Puppet).
We offer a competitive base salary range for this position, reflective of current national data. The range varies by location and is influenced by individual skills and experience.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
- $132,232 - $176,310 in several states including AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, , IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY.
- $138,844 - $185,124 in states like CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI.
- $145,456 - $193,940 in AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA.
