Technician - Client Support
The MS Department of Archives & History (MDAH) requires a Client Support Technician to provide a full range of on-site and remote end-user support for the MDAH network. This role ensures the optimal performance and reliability of desktop PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, and mobile devices across the department.
The Technician will be responsible for the following daily operational tasks and support duties:
- End-User Support:
Respond to help desk requests via phone, chat, or in person. Log, track, and resolve technical issues using internal ticketing systems. - Hardware & Software Administration:
Repair and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, and mobile devices. Install, configure, and update operating systems and office applications. - Onboarding & Account Management:
Set up new workstations and manage all onboarding and offboarding tasks, including user account creation and permission setups. - Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records for hardware, software licenses, and general IT supplies. - Issue Escalation:
Identify and escalate complex or network-wide issues to senior system or network administrators as necessary.
Operational Requirements &
Schedule:
- Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite from day one of the assignment. Remote candidates will not be accepted.
- Duration:
Long-term potential; likely to be extended past one year.
Qualifications &
Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, vocational training, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- 1 to 4 years of relevant IT support or service desk experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and Azure/Active Directory.
- Foundational understanding of basic networking principles (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
- Familiarity with endpoint security tools.
- Strong communication skills, patience, a customer service mindset, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or relevant Microsoft credentials are highly preferred.
