The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within the Facilities Unit, located at the State Office. The Director of Facilities oversees all aspects of county facility locations. This management position deals with budgeting, maintenance, purchasing and planning activities that go into agency operations. This position is responsible for the safety and security of staff who utilize each of the facilities. The Director of Facilities will work with County Officials to ensure county allotted space is functional for the team housed in it and that any maintenance issues are handled in a timely manner.
They will also assist the Director of Administration on contracts and leases with each County.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of Facility Specialist that handle the day-to-day operations of county facilities in 3 designated areas.
- Conducting regular needs assessments to ascertain potential issues with the building and surrounds.
- Inspecting buildings' structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Coordinate with county officials to facilitate any needed repairs or renovations.
- Handling long-range planning to support future needs and growth of the agency regarding office space allocation.
- Assist the Director of Administration on obtaining new agreements and renewal of existing agreements between the agency and county for the use of designated office space.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety codes.
- Familiarity with maintenance requirements of old and new buildings.
- Outstanding negotiating and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Capacity to juggle multiple demands.
- Ability to tend to emergencies outside of normal working hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 4-7 years of experience.
- Agency preferred qualifications:
Prior experience as a facilities director or equivalent.
