Position: Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management

Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management

Summary The Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management ( AVPEM ) assists with the formation and continued development of the institutional Strategic Enrollment Management plan to incorporate campus-wide recruitment, retention, and graduation/completion-based initiatives. Oversees the development and implementation of recruitment plans to attract a qualified and diverse student population to match institutional goals. Promotes efficient and timely processes associated with both academic and student financial records.

Reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs on strategic and system-wide issues, as well as on routine operational matters. Provides leadership for and oversees the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of Admissions & Recruitment, Student Records, and Student Financial Aid.

Key Duties

  • Chairs the university Strategic Enrollment Operations Council.
  • Establishes and implements a strategic, comprehensive strategic enrollment plan for the University.
  • Directs and oversees the development of recruiting strategies and enrollment programs to enhance student-institution fit and successful student transition to the University.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Oversees all the implementation of the newly purchased CRM system ( SLATE ), and ensures that appropriate training is provided to staff on an ongoing basis and coordination of reporting, including the weekly Executive Cabinet reports.
  • Serves on the University Scholarship Committee.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with other university divisions and departments, particularly with the Division of Academic Affairs and with the Graduate Department Coordinators.
  • Makes presentations to alumni, high school administrators, and interested community members relevant to the enrollment growth strategies for the university.

Master’s degree and at least 5 years of higher education experience and progressive experience in enrollment management, including financial aid, admissions, and recruitment.

Knowledge of enrollment management theory and practice. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with administrators, academic leadership, faculty, students, community leadership, public officials, funding agencies, and members of the community wledge of marketing and outreach principles, strategies, and techniques. Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills. Employee development and performance management skills. Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.

Strategic planning and performance measurement skills. Skill in program planning, examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures at an institute of higher education. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, and to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. On occasions, the employee may need to lift and or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities for this position include close vision and ability to look at a computer screen for several consecutive hours.
