The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team who will aid in leading the delivery of ethical, strategic, sustainable, and mission-centered operations and business development for Hinds Behavioral Health Services (HBHS) and its stakeholders. The CFO is responsible for establishing strong organizational standards, policies, and procedures, and assuring compliance in finance, accounting, regulatory, and reimbursement operations.

Ensures workforce well-being and long-term sustainability, enabling the organization to expand access to behavioral health services and fulfill its mission for marginalized and underserved communities.

The CFO must lead with personal integrity that aligns with the mission and values of HBHS, demonstrating respect for individuals, a commitment to excellence, and ethical decision-making. This role requires active engagement in the community mental health center movement at the local, state, and national levels. The CFO oversees all financial operations, manages multi-source funding, and advises the Executive Director and Board of Commissioners, ensuring resources are effectively aligned with the mission to provide high-quality behavioral health services to marginalized and underserved populations.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Active CPA licensure (or equivalent professional certification such as CGFO or CMA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in administration and auditing, preferably in CMHCs, behavioral health, or nonprofit healthcare organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CMHC accounting, finance, audit readiness, grants management, revenue cycle, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Visionary leadership with the ability to drive strategic financial initiatives, organizational development, and long-term sustainability.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Boards of Commissioners or governing boards.
  • Knowledge of Mississippi CMHC statutes and DMH Operational Standards.
  • Experience managing multiple federal, state, and local grants.
  • Experience leading organizational financial stabilization or systems-level reforms.
