Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Coil Winder specializing in large-scale power transformers. In this role, you will be responsible for using specialized winding techniques, including Disc, Helical, and CTC (Continuously Transposed Conductor) winding. This position requires mastery of tension control and the ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints to ensure optimal electrical performance and mechanical strength.

Responsibilities
  • High-Voltage Coil Winding:
Set up and operate heavy-duty winding machines to produce coils for transformers rated at 161 kV, 230 kV, and 345 kV.
  • Winding Techniques:
    • Disc Winding:
Stacking multiple conductor discs in series with precise crossover points.
    • Helical (Spiral) Winding:
Managing high-current, low-voltage applications using multiple parallel conductors in a spiral configuration.
    • CTC Winding:
Handling Continuously Transposed Conductors to minimize eddy current losses and ensure uniform current distribution.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and winding specifications to determine turns, dimensions, and insulation requirements.
  • Insulation & Assembly:
Apply critical insulation materials (kraft paper, epoxy resin, press-board spacers) and create axial/radial oil ducts to facilitate efficient cooling.
  • Quality Control:
Monitor turn counts, DC resistance, and layer appearance during the winding process; conduct final inspections to meet strict industry standards.
  • Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine machine maintenance and adhere to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and the use of specialized PPE for high-voltage environments.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience:

5+ years of experience in high-voltage power transformer coil winding.
  • Technical Proficiency:
Expert knowledge of vertical, disc, helical, and CTC winding methods for core-type transformers.
  • Precision Tools:
Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and measuring tapes to verify tolerances within fractions of an inch.
  • Physical Stamina:
Capability to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 25–100 kg as required by the manufacturing environment.
  • Education:

High School diploma or equivalent; vocational training in electrical technology is preferred.
  • Preferred

    Skills:
    • Experience with CNC-controlled automated winding machines.
    • Knowledge of interleaved or shielded disc construction for enhanced surge behavior.
    • Familiarity with soldering and welding lead-out conductors and busbars.
  • Benefits:
    • Medical Insurance
    • Disability Insurance
    • Life Insurance
    • 401k Retirement
    • Education Reimbursement
    • Paid Holidays
