Operations Manager, Production Manager
Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Controls division is currently seeking a Factory Manager at our Jackson, MS facility. Relocation assistance is available from within the US to the Jackson, MS area. Located at one of Eaton’s most rapidly expanding Aerospace facilities, this position offers a unique opportunity to gain end‑to‑end exposure to plant operations and prepare for progression into Plant Manager roles.
Compensation:
The expected annual salary range for this role is $146,000 – $215,000 a year, with eligibility for a variable incentive program.
The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacturing and delivery of aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
What you’ll do:This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for overall leadership of site operations in Jackson, MS, including the machine shop, OEM, and Final Operations. The responsibilities include leadership to achieve production schedule, product quality, product cost, and employee safety goals; driving performance and deploying the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF); leveraging resources and motivating team members to create a high‑performance culture.
- Manage 3 direct reports – machine shop, OEM, and Final Operations Manager – with a total team of ~200 people.
- Manage and direct all site manufacturing activities to ensure completion of customer requirements.
- Track key measures:
Sales, Safety (TRCR, DACR), Quality (DPPM), On‑Time Delivery, Productivity, and First Pass Yield. - Assess performance indicators and take appropriate actions to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals are met.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and documentation are followed for consistent and compliant manufacturing.
- Lead continuous improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery through the CIF.
- Support product design organization during new product introduction to meet customer delivery times.
- Address Environmental, Health, and Safety issues in line with local regulations, Eaton policy, and good corporate citizenship.
- Develop budgets and resource plans and monitor performance to achieve product delivery and cost requirements.
- Coordinate plant initiatives and participate on cross‑enterprise teams to drive best practices.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to resolve labor relations issues arising within production.
- Drive labor productivity and lead cost‑reduction efforts to reduce factory cost.
- Champion implementation of MESH to improve year‑over‑year safety performance measures.
- Maintain working knowledge of product‑support data (repair manuals, parts lists, service bulletins, price catalogs, etc.) to provide customer support and identify business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Component Maintenance Manuals and other work instructions via production processes and audits, critical to FAA and customer approval.
- Provide vision and strategy for OEM, Spares, Machine Shop, and Aftermarket operations to inspire teams for improved performance, engagement, and retention.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing operations experience directly within a plant/factory.
- Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Aerospace industry experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of continuous improvement or Lean experience.
- Must be a U.S. person under export regulations (citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Relocation to Jackson, MS is required; the candidate must reside within the hiring country.
- MBA or other advanced degree from an accredited institution.
- APICS or CSCP certification.
- 3 years prior management of managers experience.
- Knowledge of MES or SCADA systems.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) and order generation process logic.
- P&L and basic financial concepts knowledge.
