Wastewater Treatment Plant Helper

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Wastewater Treatment Plant Helper to support the daily operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in utilities, environmental services, plant operations, or maintenance careers. The successful candidate will assist plant operators and maintenance personnel with routine operational activities, equipment inspections, housekeeping, and basic maintenance tasks while helping ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Assist operators with routine wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning tanks, channels, buildings, and grounds.
• Assist with basic maintenance activities such as lubrication, parts replacement, and minor equipment repairs.
• Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment throughout the facility.
• Assist with inspections of pumps, valves, blowers, motors, and related equipment.
• Collect wastewater samples and assist with basic testing activities as directed.
• Follow all safety procedures, including confined space, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support plant staff with operational and maintenance projects as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in wastewater, water treatment, utilities, maintenance, construction, landscaping, industrial, or labor-related work.
• Familiarity with hand tools and basic maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Experience working in outdoor environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work around wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
