Starting Pay $20.05/hr hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday‑Friday. Holiday and weekend work required.
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role may be performed in any department of the feed mill.
Work environments may include dusty, cold, damp, or hot and humid conditions with slippery walking surfaces. Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling up to 300lb buggies, and reaching. Lifting is required in many areas, and working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas.
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, possess basic math and computer skills, and enter data into a handheld computer system. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools, and operate all automated equipment, including saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders, and ladders as needed. Must obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT). The role requires maintaining machines, keeping them clean, fabricating by welding and cutting, working alongside contractors, and completing training to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment.
The performance will be evaluated by Tyson and vendor to ensure proper machine operation.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain equipment and automated machinery.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Use handheld computers to enter and record data.
- Adhere to safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed.
- Fabricate by welding and cutting where required.
- Meet training requirements for equipment set‑up, operation, and shutdown.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Six months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12 months.
- Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational diploma preferred.
- Physical fitness to lift, push, pull, climb, and handle equipment as described.
- Basic math, computer, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of manual and power tools, automated equipment, and powered industrial truck operation.
- Must reside within a 30‑mile radius of the facility.
- Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
