Foundry Technician

Title

Division (Weir ESCO-Location - Newton, Ms., Onsite 2ndShift-1:00pm
-11:15)

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the ladles and vessels, relining with multi-components the AOD vessels, bottom pour ladles, transfer ladles and the making of stopper rods, cleans the old linings out of the ladles with the use of a chipping gun and installs the appropriate lining, removes the burned bricks from the AOD vessel and re-bricks the vessel, positions and moves the ladles, vessels and refractory materials with an overhead crane.

• Ensure work area is clean and free of any hazards
• Participate in all Safety, Health and Environmental programs Updating Refractory Application Ensure all ladles, ladle components and Vessels meet process & quality requirements
• Data collection and input
• Have a good work ethic and a good attendance record
• Maintain a positive attitude in the workplace at all times
• Participate in lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen)

  Good reading, writing, mathematical, and verbal skills

Working Environment – Indoors, extreme heat, noise 90+, possible air contaminants, possible mechanical/electrical hazards, and possible physical hazards.

Physical Demands, Great upper body strength, good hand and eye coordination, standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, and walking.
