JOB DESCRIPTION

Mississippi Forward PAC is hiring an Organizing Director to develop the direct voter contact program and manage the organizing team and volunteers in support of the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, Scott Colom. The Organizing Director will also plan, evaluate, and facilitate community events and coordinate with relevant partners to run an effective and efficient program.

About the Mississippi Forward PAC:

Mississippi Forward PAC is an organization working to unite and mobilize a coalition of Mississippians that believe our leaders should prioritize the needs of everyday Mississippians first.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a robust direct voter contact plan, including voter-contact goals, target universes, turf strategy, volunteer recruitment, and weekly benchmarks

  • Recruit, train, motivate, supervise, and retain a statewide organizing team and consistent volunteer base, exercising independent judgment in determining staff and volunteer assignments, priorities, training needs, and engagement strategies to implement the field plan and achieve voter-contact goals.

  • Develop, plan, and manage the strategy of the program’s direct voter contact events such as canvasses, phone banks, and GOTV, and independently determine appropriate staffing, timelines, volunteer deployment, and operational priorities

  • Provide the PAC leadership with daily updates, analysis, and recommendations on relevant direct voter contact and voter engagement events

  • Use Vote builder to evaluate and cut direct voter contact lists, conduct volunteer recruitment, track and analyze volunteer engagement and ensure timely and accurate data entry

  • Maintain, evaluate, and update metrics tracker on a daily basis

  • Determine literature needs and distribution priorities, monitor inventory, and coordinate distribution to supporters and partner organizations Exercise independent judgment and discretion in prioritizing work, allocating resources, resolving routine operational issues, and adapting field activities to meet program objectives

  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinated Campaign Director, along with other duties assigned by PAC leadership

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-3 cycles of campaign experience managing staff and recruiting volunteers is required

  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment, meet tight deadlines under pressure

  • A keen eye for detail and maintaining a high level of professional standards

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit throughout the duration of the program

  • Comfortable with talking to new people and making hard asks

  • Demonstrate strong personal organization and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate

  • Understand and present effective training and management skills with staff and volunteers

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation

  • Be dedicated to anti-harassment and anti-racist principles, diversity, equity and inclusion, and grassroots organizing

Helpful skills for the role:

  • Previous success with volunteer recruitment

  • Involvement, volunteer or paid, with a Democratic campaign

  • Strong relational organizing network in Mississippi
