Job Summary

To provide leadership and management to all nursing, personnel and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or units in a clinical setting. Manages all clinical functions and operations of the assigned area or units. Ensures efficient and effective delivery of clinical patient care and services and ensures compliance with administrative, regulatory and clinical policies and procedure. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.

Education

& Experience

Bachelor's degree in nursing and five (5) years of RN experience, two (2) of those years in a leadership role. Prefer clinical experience in area to be supervised/managed.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required

Valid RN license.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and directs the operations and delivery of patient care within the budgetary, staffing and regulatory guidelines, using evidence based practice.
  • Ensures that personnel demonstrate quality standards of customer satisfaction and patient care.
  • Manages nursing and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or unit by coaching, educating, consulting, training and evaluating their performance.
  • Plans, schedules and organizes the work of the assigned area or unit to ensure the proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of clinical personnel, space and facilities.
  • Participates in planning, preparing, and prioritizing of budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Monitors compliance, investigates variances and provides plans for remediation.
  • Assures compliance with productivity standards for assigned area/units.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical care.
  • Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Physical and Environmental Demands Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
