Research Associate - Psychiatry - PT
Job SummaryThe Research Associate is a key member of a research team, responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific investigations. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong scientific background who are eager to engage in independent and collaborative research projects.
Education & ExperienceMaster's Degree in a field of science or Bachelor's in a field of science with two (2) years of laboratory experience.
Certifications & LicensingNone required.
Preferred QualificationsResearch experience in an academic or industry setting; strong knowledge of molecular, cellular, and biochemical assays; proficiency with statistical and imaging software.
Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments under the direction of the principal investigator (PI).
- Conduct molecular, cellular, and/or biochemical assays as part of research studies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using statistical and imaging software.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and presentation of research findings.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.
- Collaborate with research teams to support multiple ongoing studies.
- Train and mentor junior staff, students, or research assistants on laboratory procedures and best practices.
- Manage laboratory inventory, ensuring proper ordering and organization of supplies and reagents.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Assist in animal husbandry, collection of physiological data, and euthanasia, when required.
Frequent bending, crouching, occasional kneeling, frequent reaching, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Occasional driving, exposure to biohazardous conditions, unpleasant environments, and potential hazardous chemicals. Work may extend beyond regular hours and involve occasional travel.
Compensation & BenefitsPart time; 50% FTE; day shift; salary; grant funded; benefits included as per University of Mississippi Medical Center policy.
