Knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and protocols. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to design, organize and coordinate scientific research projects. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data. Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol. Ability to comply with safety, environmental, and infections control standards and practices.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts scientific research requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard scientific techniques.
- Designs and performs experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
- Collects, analyzes and interprets data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs.
- Operates equipment and performs new research procedures.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
