SummaryThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, determining methods to achieve store goals, upholding policies and procedures, promoting sales and promotions, and serving as an ambassador to create a unique customer experience. The Manager in Training must provide outstanding customer service, promote merchandise, and assume supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence, being trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett's
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities
- Produce extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, helping customers at the entrance and during peak periods
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett's
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett's policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risk
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel
- 1‑3 years of customer service experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise
