About the PositionThe Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is responsible for protecting the state’s air, land, and water. Our mission is to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of present and future generations of Mississippians by conserving and improving our environment and fostering wise economic growth through focused research and responsible regulation.
- Dataset analysis; running minor statistical analysis of datasets looking for errors.
- Field audits for the NRO, SRO, and CRO biology staff.
- Assist with training of field and lab staff at all offices.
- Administer and/or conduct training for laboratory personnel that participate in data collection and/or analyses.
- Assist in planning, reviewing of Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP) for laboratory and field related activities.
- Required to be a member of OPC FSD QA Committee.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for programs associated with field or lab activities. These include those relating to chemistry and biology functions.
- Provide sample validations within the laboratory’s LIMS database.
- Oversight of QA/QC requirements for the South MDEQ Laboratory.
- Responsible for periodic laboratory audits at the South and Central Laboratory.
Familiarity with basic biological field work
