Junior Environmental Scientist – A field‑based role that requires immediate availability for extended travel, emergency response, and on‑call rotations. Compensation: $38,500 – $41,100 annually, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities- Maintain, calibrate, and mobilize emergency response equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize samples from air, soil, water, and other environmental media.
- Perform monitoring and sampling activities according to prescribed methods.
- Compile, review, and summarize scientific/technical data and literature.
- Complete 40‑hour HAZWOPER training within the first three weeks of hire.
- Obtain and maintain DISA and TWIC clearances within three months of hire.
- Fulfil all designated safety requirements within the first month of hire.
- Respond promptly to supervisor communications and assignments.
- Work overtime and on weekends as required.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or related science (1–3 years experience may substitute for a degree).
- Advanced computer skills on a Windows platform and ability to learn new software.
- Completion of 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Current driver’s license and passport.
- Capability to obtain DISA and TWIC clearances.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Self‑directed and able to work independently or in a matrixed team with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel frequently, including unscheduled travel for extended periods.
- Ability to work long hours, including overtime, weekends, and up to 24‑hour shifts when necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 50lb and overhead lifting over 20lb.
- Standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and crawling in outdoor environment.
- Working with personal protective equipment (PPE), respirators, and SCBA as required.
- Exposure to hot and cold conditions, uneven ground, standing water, dust, and potential chemical hazards.
- Operating in remote sites at altitudes >5,000ft, on land, sea, or air.
- 61 hours of travel and deployment may be expected.
- Work in office settings when not deployed.
