Armed Security Officer

Job Summary

Patrols and protects the entire campus, inside and outside; responds to all incidents or calls relating to the safety and security of all persons and property on the campus. Officers are expected to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and maintain a professional appearance while serving as ambassadors of the organization. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Patrol the entire campus to deter crime and initiate corrective actions on any physical security or safety hazards identified.
• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and employees while carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to all calls for disruptive behavior, disturbances, combative patients, and incidents, as well as internal or external alarms.
• Understand, comply with, and enforce hospital policy and procedure. Enforce State and Local laws/ordinances as needed to ensure safety and security of all persons and property on campus.
• Submit all necessary reports promptly and professionally.
• Perform escorts related to money transfers per facility policy; secure patient valuables upon request; perform non‑monetary escorts for staff, visitors, physicians, and patients for safety and security.
• Control parking on the property, emphasizing parking in critical and/or emergency parking areas.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and complete assigned goals.

• Minimum: 1 year of experience in security field, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Preferred:
  Additional years of experience or specialized security experience.

• Minimum:
  Completion of 4 years of high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred:
  High school graduate or higher.

• CPR, CIT training within 1 year of hire.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, de‑escalation techniques, proper and safe restraints techniques, armed guard training and registration, OC or Pepper Spray, Baton certification.
• Preferred:
  Completion of CIT training and Taser certification.

• Basic computer literacy skills required.

• Minimum:
  Current driver’s license and TN armed guard training and certification.
