This part-time position will be located onsite at the NASA Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
Job OverviewThe Safety Technical Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, managing, and delivering safety-related technical training across Michoud Assembly Facility and Stennis Space Center. Training supports core safety principles, regulatory compliance, and industry-specific standards, ensuring personnel receive high-quality instruction in safe work practices, equipment operation, and certification-level competencies.
Responsibilities- Deliver instruction and certification training for PPE and related safety programs
- Coordinate and teach NCCER Core certifications and other NCCER-aligned safety courses
- Provide technical instruction for safe operation of light equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, boom lifts, mobile cranes, and overhead cranes
- Provide heavy equipment operations training for excavators, dozers, skid steers, and front-end loaders, including required safety certifications
- Conduct specialized safety training in areas including Confined Space, Rigging, Signaling, Trenching & Excavation, Fall Protection, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Support safety training initiatives across departments at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) and Stennis Space Center (SSC)
- Coordinate with industry partners as needed to align training with evolving safety standards and operational requirements
- Deliver safety and technical training programs across Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) and Stennis Space Center (SSC)
- Support NCCER certification and safety training initiatives
- Provide instruction for light and heavy equipment operations training programs
- Conduct specialized safety training in support of regulatory and operational requirements
- Support departmental safety training needs and workforce readiness
- Coordinate with industry partners and internal departments regarding training requirements and standards
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable safety procedures and standards
- Associate degree OR minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial, construction, or safety-related environments
- Background in industrial plant operations, construction, safety, or equipment operations training
- Current Train-the-Trainer certification
- Current Forklift and Aerial Lift certifications within the last 3 years
- NCCER Core Instructor certification
- Rigging certification
- Heavy Equipment certifications
- 3–5 years of experience delivering safety and heavy/light equipment operations training
- Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain additional certifications as required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required NASA site access and credentials
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment, and view a computer screen for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds; ability to stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, crawl, and push/pull as required
