- Repairs, maintains, services, and inspects fleet vehicles, equipment, and components.
- Repairs, maintains, services, and inspects all components pertaining to medium trucks, heavy duty trucks, light duty vehicles (ex: engine chassis, air brakes/ABS, steering, suspension, transmissions, clutches, differentials, hydraulic and electrical systems).
- Operates vehicles, equipment, and tools (ex: power tools, mobile lifts, wheel balancer, test equipment, etc.).
- Performs, coordinates, oversees, and audits DOT/ANSI/OSHA inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnosing.
- Performs general body repair and fabrication to cab and bodies/beds of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Initiates service calls and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs mobile hydraulic systems, hoses, lines, cylinders, pumps, power take-
- offs, control valves, relief valves, holding valves, selector valves and various hydraulic components.
- Follows all safety standards put forth by Badger and transportation regulatory authorities.
- Sets priorities for completion for inspections and maintenance.
- Maintains and keeps service truck clean and presentable.
- Travels to make remote repairs.
- Reinforces safety practices and transportation policies.
- Removes fleet assets from service as required to maintain fleet safety and mechanical functionality.
- Collaborates on design modifications and provides feedback to engineering on recurring opportunities
- Collaborates on fleet safety practices, including documentation (policies, instructions, guidelines, etc.).
- Supports asset tracking, utilization, and various system updates.
- Education:
high school diploma or equivalent plus automotive repair training from a technical or vocational school or similar. - Paccar technician certifications and/or National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) credential preferred.
- Minimum 5-years' experience with diesel truck maintenance and repair.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred or must have the ability to obtain a CDL.
- Experience driving a manual transmission (10-18 speed) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform work under minimal supervision.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and eye for detail.
- Fully applies oneself to the requirements of the position.
