Mechanical responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, disassembling, reassembling, and maintaining engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and other heavy equipment systems.

This position requires the ability to independently perform skilled fabrication work while also assisting with equipment diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs in a professional service shop environment.

Welding & Fabrication

• Determine material requirements and task sequences to position, align, fit, and weld parts according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.

• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding or riveting.

• Set up and operate welding and fabrication equipment including flame cutters, grinders, drill presses, and other shop equipment to cut, form, and assemble metal components.

• Fabricate, modify, and repair heavy equipment structures and components by cutting, burning, welding, and finishing metals in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.

• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, distortion, shrinkage, or material damage.

• Inspect completed work and measure finished products to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards.

Service & Mechanical Repair

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered heavy equipment and related components.

• Disassemble, repair, reassemble, and install engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and other equipment systems.

• Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, and perform effective repairs utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools and procedures.

• Test, adjust, and verify repairs to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently prior to customer delivery.

• Evaluate parts and components for repair, reuse, or replacement in accordance with OEM standards.

• Assist with machine rebuilds, component replacements, and other major repair projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical training in welding, diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in welding, fabrication, heavy equipment repair, diesel engine repair, truck repair, or a combination thereof.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-fuel cutting processes.

  • Ability to successfully complete a welding and fabrication skills assessment.

  • Ability to obtain or successfully complete a 3G welding certification within 90 days of assignment.

  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, powertrain systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, service manuals, technical documents, and specifications.

  • Proficiency using welding equipment, fabrication tools, hand tools, precision measuring devices, diagnostic equipment, and shop tools.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate a computer and learn company software systems and OEM support programs.

  • Ability to work safely in a demanding shop environment while lifting, climbing, standing, kneeling, and performing physical labor during 8 to 10 hour shifts.
