Salary: $41,620.80 - $45,780.00 annually.

About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Human Services is dedicated to serving others while providing a wide range of public assistance programs, social services, and support for children, low‑income individuals and families. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement delivery of assigned services such as adoption, foster care, parent training, substitute care, family‑centered services, permanency planning, family or individual/group therapy, protective and/or in‑home services.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, formulate treatment plans, document client progress, and participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Refer to community resources and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Assess physical and emotional risk, conduct home visits, interview family and client, and collaborate with extended family, schools, doctors, churches, therapists, etc., to determine needs and ensure client safety.
  • Respond to emergencies, initiate emergency court action, and issue findings on abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • One to three years of experience in social services.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and advocate for children.
  • Social worker’s license may be required by appointing authority.
