The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within the Background Unit, located at the State Office. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance.

The Central Registry Unit is responsible for conducting Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Background Checks on individuals who may be entrusted with the protection, supervision, or care of children in the State of Mississippi. This includes, but is not limited to, new MDCPS employees, relative resource homes, resource homes, adoptive homes, Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) placements, and other individuals required by law, policy, or agency procedure to undergo a Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check.
The Central Registry Unit Supervisor is responsible for the administrative and operational oversight of the Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Unit within the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS).The position provides direct supervision and operational oversight to ensure that Central Registry requests are received, assigned, researched, processed, reviewed, documented, and returned accurately and within established time frames. The position is responsible for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and reliability of Central Registry information while ensuring compliance with applicable federal requirements, Mississippi law, MDCPS policies and procedures, and established unit practices.
The position serves as a subject-matter resource for Central Registry operations and guides staff and authorized internal and external stakeholders regarding Central Registry requirements and processes
To become a success in this position, the candidate must acquire the necessary education, have a meticulous eye for detail, and understand the sensitive nature of the work.
The Program Specialist III will handle confidential information from child abuse and neglect reports for state departments like the Mississippi Departmnet of Child Protection Services (MDCPS).
