Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. They ensure that customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, while also serving as the face of the company and building lasting customer relationships.

Position Details
  • Monday – Friday
  • Dispatch 4 a.m. – 6 a.m.
  • Average annual salary $70,000
Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and promptly.
  • Act as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer, and report any safety issues or repairs required.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route and delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer, transporting items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removal of orders according to company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and/or secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter it in the log in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 12 months commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma/GED or state‑approved equivalent.
  • Valid CDL

    A.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past three years.
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure new DOT Health Card.
  • Ability to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift. Product generally ranges from between 10–35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of commercial driving experience.
  • Food service distribution industry experience.
  • On‑board computer and electronic log system experience (e.g., People Net).
  • Hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning system experience (e.g., POD).
  • Customer service related work experience.
