Location:

Newton, MS

Shifts:

Sunday – Tuesday (Working every other Wednesday) 5:00 am – 5:30 pm;
Thursday – Saturday (Working every other Wednesday) 5:00 am – 5:30 pm

Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the coordinator manages the associates dedicated to warehouse receiving, shipping, and overall workflow to meet company service and cost objectives. Employees are expected to meet performance, safety, and quality targets and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Training Responsibilities
  • Mentor and train new and existing associates on distribution activities to achieve customer demand targets.
  • Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
  • Assist in forklift operation and certification for associates.
Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities
  • Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stack product, and stage outbound shipments per productivity standards.
  • Verify required paperwork with drivers, ensuring all products are properly counted.
  • Load orders accurately according to door and trailer specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in shipping and receiving processes.
Customer Service
  • Maintain professional appearance and communication.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person.
  • Prepare accurate activity reports for site management.
Quality Control Responsibilities
  • Use documentation to ensure correct receipt, shipment, and picking of products.
  • Verify product quality, report damages, and perform necessary packaging tasks.
  • Follow SOPs for all quality control functions.
  • Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Manager.
  • Participate in quality meetings.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
  • Comply with ISO standards, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
  • Execute all safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly warehouse.
  • Attend safety meetings.
Labor Management
  • Direct warehouse work team to meet productivity goals.
  • Assist associates and temporary labor with productivity sheets and payroll capture.
  • Support schedule planning and effective job assignment.
  • Ensure associates follow quality procedures and guidelines.
Responsibility and Authority
  • Participate in department meetings.
  • Initiate actions to prevent non‑conformities and recommend solutions.
  • Notify Quality Department of non‑conformities immediately.
Equipment Operation
  • Operate sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, aisle master, or pallet jack.
  • Maintain equipment, perform daily inspections, and report issues.
  • Operate all equipment safely following prescribed methods.
  • Maintain an active forklift certification.
Maintenance
  • Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Other Duties
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, filing, and record keeping.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
  • Able to operate material handling equipment.
  • Work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Designations
  • Completion of a forklift training program.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Computer Skills
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Use of RF scanners and WMS functions.
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate skills for verifying quantities and inventory.
Other
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication across all organization levels.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–4 years experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution.
  • 2–4 years proven forklift experience.
  • Current or prior material handling equipment certification.
