Flexo Machine Operator - 1st Shift

Summary

Sets up and operates a machine to print designs, cut, and score cardboard to create containers. Performs duties listed below.

• Accurately and efficiently set up and operate the machine by selecting and fastening printing plates, filling ink pails with required colors, adjusting the rate of flow of ink and spacing guides, and checking the glue station.
• Ensure diagonal and corrugator scores are deep enough for proper folding.
• Maximize machine utilization by operating at available capacity and speed while minimizing waste of sheet stock, inks, and glue.
• Check containers to verify quality, examining for miss‑slotted containers, loose liners, misprints, or other defects.
• Train and assist the machine helper with job duties by switching duties as needed to provide such training.
• Train on other machines to provide back‑up support when needed and be willing to move to another machine or shift as required.
• Complete necessary reports in a neat, accurate, and timely manner, including production, safety, and quality data, machine operational status, and maintenance work orders for cutting/dies and printing plates.
• Maintain equipment proactively, submit maintenance work orders for repairs to the supervisor, and follow up until repairs are completed.
• Adhere to the daily production schedule, report any unusual scheduling issues to the supervisor, and make recommendations to optimize schedules to meet cost, quality, delivery, and customer service goals.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping. Follow corporate quality, sanitation, GMP, and HACCP standards to achieve finished products within quality control specifications.

• Reliable transportation.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience in printing and die cutting in the corrugated industry.
• Mathematical skills, able to read a tape measure (1/16th).
• Computer skills.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Must be available to work any shift, overtime as required, and weekends when needed.
