Responsible for assisting the team in performing tasks related to patient care and department operations, including, but not limited to, assisting provision of initial fitness assessments for new clients, progression and adaptation of exercise regimens, maintenance of statistical data as assigned, participation in leading individual and group exercise sessions, participation in program development and facility/department initiatives as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties related to patient care as directed by therapist, which can include safe transfers and guarding techniques utilizing cues and assistance, obtaining vital signs, preparation of treatment area, obtaining equipment needed, and set up of driver training cars. Lead individual or group exercise activities for clients in wellness/maintenance programs including first session assessments, determine exercise prescription, implement and oversee exercise prescription and progression, observe participants during exercise for signs of stress, and report results of exercise sessions.

    Provide accurate and timely clinical documentation on, but not limited to, individual or group activities for clients in wellness/maintenance programs.
  • Clean treatment areas and equipment using appropriate agents. Maintain treatment and storage areas in a neat and organized manner. Maintain linen supply and laundry clinic items regularly. Maintain inventory of clinic supplies and provide information to the supervisor for ordering. Remove unsafe equipment from operational use and notify the supervisor.
  • Eliminate safety hazards; report housekeeping issues promptly; clear towels from locker rooms as needed; demonstrate correct use of exercise equipment and participate in regular equipment safety checks as requested; order material and supplies and calibrate equipment; clean equipment as scheduled; follow appropriate procedures for close‑out as well as opening and closing the department.
  • Answer phone using department scripting; prepare exercise charts for new clients as assigned; collect payments according to department policies and procedures; assist with staffing and preparing weekly schedules; assist with marketing activities to promote new business; work with management to promote health and wellness in and out of the organization.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Graduate of an accredited program with a degree in exercise physiology.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a clinical medical environment.
  • Computer knowledge:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in use with exercise equipment.

Preferred
  • Previous experience working in a fitness environment or with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working in cardiac and pulmonary fields.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification – ACLS
Compensation

Minimum rate of $28.93 hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.
