Plumbing Inspector

The Township of Jackson is seeking a qualified and knowledgeable Plumbing Inspector to join the Building Department. This position performs inspection work related to plumbing systems and enforces applicable plumbing and public health laws in accordance with the State Uniform Construction Code. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills and be able to work collaboratively with contractors, business owners, and the public.

This is a full-time position with pension eligibility along with access to health, dental, and vision benefits. Salary to commensurate with experience, range: $51,651 - $80,000 annually. A complete job specification is attached.

• Conduct plumbing inspections to enforce applicable code and public health requirements
• Review and examine plans for plumbing work
• Determine causes of violations and take corrective action as necessary
• Maintain inspection records, reports, and related files
• Work with contractors, business owners, and residents regarding code compliance
• Provide testimony in court matters, if required
• Perform other duties as assigned
• These duties are performed under direction in accordance with established procedures, regulations, and code requirements.

• Valid license issued by the State of New Jersey as an ICS Plumbing Inspector
• Working knowledge of the adopted plumbing subcode
• Understanding of code requirements for new construction and rehabilitation projects
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License

Preferred qualifications include:

• HHS Plumbing Inspector License and a Plumbing Subcode Official License preferred (or working towards obtaining one).
