We are seeking a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant!Jackson County, OH
Integrated Services for Behavioral Health (ISBH) is a community-minded, forward-thinking behavioral health organization helping people along the road to health and well-being. We serve Southeast and Central Ohio with a comprehensive array of behavioral health and other services, working with local partners to promote healthy people and strong communities.

The chemical dependency counselor assistant is responsible for assessing client needs, performing level-of-care evaluations, coordinating resources, and providing both group and individual SUD psychotherapy within credential limits and scope of practice. The role requires outreach to referrals, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with community partners and internal teams to support individuals on their recovery journey.
The salary for this position is $19.25-$22.50 annually, based on experienceEssential Functions:
- Conduct assessments of participant strengths, needs, and level of care to support substance use disorder treatment planning and placement within the scope of practice and credentials
- Provide and assist with individual and group substance use disorder services in alignment with treatment plans and evidence-informed practices
- Coordinate referrals, outreach, and linkage to community resources, including medical care, transportation, housing, recovery supports, and other basic needs; maintain engagement with referrals and participants who experience lapses in treatment
- Advocate for participants with schools, courts, service providers, and other community partners as appropriate
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and cross-system collaboration; maintain strong working relationships with behavioral health, internal teams, and community partners to strengthen services and expand referral pathways
- Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically appropriate documentation of services and client contacts in accordance with agency, Medicaid, and state requirements
- Participate in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, audits, and data reporting activities as assigned
- Build and maintain knowledge of community resources, evidence-informed practices, and emerging service needs relevant to the population served
- Utilize databases and Electronic Health Record systems for accurate client documentation
- Adhere to ISBH EHR documentation policy
- Meet ISBH standards for productivity and quality of service delivery
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal guidelines pertaining to HIPPA privacy standards and laws
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required training to support ongoing development
- Use trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches in all client and team interactions
- Travel within the service area to provide support in homes, schools, and community locations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
- A bachelor’s degree in healthcare, behavioral health or a related field is preferred
- An active license to perform SUD psychotherapy issued by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board is required
- 3 years of related experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or related field is preferred
- Experience in a substance use program is preferred
- Advanced communication skills, both oral and written, are required
- Experience with multi-need individuals and families is preferred
- A broad knowledge of community service systems is preferred
- Willingness to participate in and lead cross-systems team-building activities is required
