SummaryThe Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring the store’s goals are met. They are knowledgeable in each product area, uphold company policies and standards, provide outstanding customer service, promote merchandise, and assume supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of the store.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist in personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Inform the Store Manager of inventory movements and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service per the customer service manual, assisting customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by the company.
- Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the operations, personnel, visual, customer service manuals, and company memoranda.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager, conducting interviews, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving issues in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications- Experience in retail, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1‑3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
