Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for general automotive maintenance service along with skills to perform a complete safety check on vehicles serviced. Under the direct supervision of the Director, the FST is responsible for preventive maintenance of vehicles and vehicle inspections. Certified as an Automobile Mechanic through completion of an approved diploma program by the Tennessee State Board of Regents or equivalent course required. Minimum of one year experience as an auto mechanic preferred.
Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Preventive Maintenance on vehicles will include: lube, oil, and filter changes, mount/dismount of tires, wheel balance, brake service, and other related services as assigned.
Completes assignments given in a timely manner.
Assists other Fleet Service Technicians as needed to satisfy the needs of the customer.
Assists in cleaning and maintaining of service area and equipment. Records service performed on appropriate work order forms.
Maintains parts inventory at required par levels and keep in organized manner.
Reports activities to the Director including unusual occurrences and complaints from customers.
Participates in Quality Improvement process.
Attends all required departmental meetings.
Contributes to a positive work climate and overall team effort of the department.
Performs related responsibilities as required following policies, procedures, and operating instructions.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Skills and proficiency in the area of automobile maintenance and repair.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Certified as an Automobile Mechanic through completion of an approved diploma program by the Tennessee State Board of Regents or equivalent course
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year experience as an auto mechanic.
Valid driver license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and understanding of the mechanical operations of both gasoline and diesel engines.
Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of basic vehicle maintenance and repair.
Basic computer skills preferred.
