Adjunct Instructor in Music - Commercial Music (Guitar)

Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Adjunct Instructor in Music – Commercial Music (Guitar).

• Teach applied commercial guitar, ensemble coaching, commercial guitar techniques, and commercial guitar pedagogy, including electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, loop technologies, pedal board strategies, and improvisational techniques in a variety of styles.
• Provide direction and supervision for student chamber groups as assigned.
• Perform in faculty and university ensembles as directed.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance, Guitar Pedagogy, Commercial Music, Jazz Performance, Master of Art in Worship, or equivalent.
• Experience teaching undergraduate‑level group and private guitar.
• Ability to teach Commercial Music Theory or Musicianship/Aural Skills courses.
• Ability to perform in a variety of music styles, including classical, popular, rock, jazz, blues, contemporary worship, country, and bluegrass.
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to work in a team leadership setting.

• Ph.D. or D.M.A. in Guitar Performance, Guitar Pedagogy, Commercial Music, Jazz Performance, Worship, or equivalent.
• Extensive solo or ensemble recording and performing experience.
• Teaching experience at the college level and/or in the commercial music industry.
