As an integral member of our team, the Assistant Manager will assist in overseeing club operations to ensure an exceptional "Judgement Free" member experience. This position works closely with the Club Manager to build a positive and enthusiastic team atmosphere and a financially successful club.
Responsibilities- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing a high‑performing staff of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, and ensure staff follows superior customer‑service guidelines.
- Assist with staff management, scheduling, and supervising staff to ensure shift coverage.
- Ensure staff provides exceptional customer service at all times.
- Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
- Assist in administration and processing of weekly employee payroll.
- Provide backup support for absent employees.
- Lead front‑desk activities: greet members and guests, answer calls, assist callers, process new memberships, log amenities, and communicate updates or events.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and maintenance of the club, including the front‑desk area, lobby, facility cleaning, and equipment upkeep.
- Assist in ensuring safety by reporting equipment or facility issues to the Club Manager and Facilities Maintenance team.
- Assist in ordering supplies within the specific budget.
- Assist in tracking statistics and reports on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Manage marketing efforts and ensure staff is aware and trained on promotions.
- Make daily bank deposits.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on club needs.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year of customer service experience, preferably in a gym or retail environment.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn systems quickly.
- Solid supervisory, diplomatic, and listening skills.
- Hardworking, enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about health and fitness.
- Strong customer‑service and problem‑resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Continual standing and walking during shift.
- Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals.
