Job Summary
The Assistant Residence Director (ARD) is a female, 10-month, full-time, live-in position responsible for supporting the Residence Director (RD) in fostering a holistic residential learning environment within the Heritage Complex. The ARD contributes to developing a community that supports students' academic, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. This role includes mentoring students, supervising Resident Advisors, coordinating programming, and assisting with administrative and operational responsibilities.

Job Duties
Student Development and Support
* Build meaningful relationships with residents and provide guidance related to transitioning to college, spiritual growth, values clarification, lifestyle decisions, and interpersonal relationships.
* Serve as a visible and accessible presence within the residence community.
* Coordinate programs that support students' educational, personal, spiritual, and recreational development.
* Support Conversation-based Programming initiatives by helping Resident Advisors create intentional, developmentally informed interactions with students.
Staff Supervision and Leadership
* Assist the RD in the selecting, training, and supervising the Residence Life student staff.
* Provide ongoing leadership development and support to Resident Advisors.
* Assume responsibility for the residence complex when the RD is unavailable.
Community Development and Engagement
* Act as a liaison between residents and university faculty and staff.
* Attend and participate in Residence Life trainings, meetings, and student activities.
* Encourage a residential culture aligned with the institution's mission, identity, and core values.
Crisis Response and Safety
* Respond to emergencies and crises by assessing situations, determining appropriate actions, and contacting additional professional staff or Security when needed.
* Remain knowledgeable of emergency procedures and ready to implement protocols.
* Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with Residence Life staff.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Assist with operational functions including check-in/check-out procedures, room assignments, key management, maintenance coordination, and general facility oversight.
* Support accurate documentation and follow-through for Residence Life processes and communication.

Job Duties
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. This position requires strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; attention to detail; and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Successful candidates must be able to work effectively with diverse populations of students, faculty, and staff.
Due to the assigned residential area and supervision requirements, this position requires a female staff member in accordance with university policy and applicable legal exemptions.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior residential leadership experience or student development experience is strongly preferred.
Christian Requirement
Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University's Identity, Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Faith, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
