Position: Classroom Teacher (Founding Year) Grades K-2

Jackson Museum School seeks dynamic and passionate educators to become founding Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd‑grade teachers for our inaugural year in Fall 2026. As a Diverse by Design school, we are committed to creating a positive, team‑oriented culture where all students thrive. Founding teachers will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our innovative

school. You will develop and implement engaging, hands‑on lessons aligned with state standards, differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of our students in an inquiry and project‑based learning environment. You will implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and restorative practices to build a positive school climate

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging, hands‑on, and inquiry‑based lessons aligned with state standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to develop innovative projects and learning experiences.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including project‑based assessments.
  • Implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and restorative practices to build a positive school climate.
  • Establish strong, positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development focused on inquiry and project‑based learning, museum school practices, special populations, PBIS, and restorative practices.
  • Actively contribute to the development and growth of Jackson Museum School as a founding teacher.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Elementary Education or related field (Masters preferred).
  • Valid Tennessee teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience teaching in elementary grades (preferred).
  • Passion for inquiry‑based learning and hands‑on instruction.
  • Commitment to creating a student‑centered and equitable learning environment.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working in a Diverse by Design school community.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a team‑oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to embrace innovative teaching methods and museum school practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn and implement PBIS and restorative practices.
