Freshwaters Illustrated - UT Year 3
Freshwaters Illustrated (FI), in partnership with University of Tennessee Extension, educates communities across Tennessee about local ecosystems, watershed science, conservation careers, and environmental stewardship. FI leads K–12 engagement through its Water Teachers Initiative, while UT Extension connects with schools and youth through a statewide network of Extension agents and 4‑H educators. Together, we expand access to environmental education and career pathways.
This project focuses on rural and under‑resourced Tennessee communities, including distressed and at‑risk counties. With its rivers, forests, and growing investment in conservation and blueways, Tennessee offers strong opportunities to explore natural resource careers. Members will engage in curriculum development and produce templates, guides and materials for staff to use in Water Teachers and Hidden Rivers programming. They will also develop an outreach framework, strategies and tools for staff to use to build systems that increase access to conservation career pathways.
We seek organized, adaptable individuals with strong communication skills and an interest in education, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Project dates are shared during recruitment. Learn more through FI or UT Extension. Tennessee offers welcoming communities, outdoor recreation, and meaningful opportunities to make an impact.
