Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Conduct is responsible for the administration, coordination, and adjudication of student conduct cases in alignment with the Lane College Student Code of Conduct. This position serves as a primary hearing officer for low- to mid-level conduct cases and supports the overall conduct system through case management, documentation, collaboration, and educational interventions.
The Coordinator plays a key role in promoting accountability, fostering student learning, and upholding community standards while supporting student success and retention.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a hearing officer for assigned student conduct cases from intake through resolution
- Review incident reports, conduct investigations as needed, and determine outcomes consistent with institutional policy
- Apply equitable, consistent, and educationally grounded sanctions
- Maintain accurate timelines and ensure prompt case resolution
- Maintain confidential conduct records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies
- Ensure accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all actions, communications, and outcomes
- Assist with managing conduct databases and reporting systems
- Collaborate with Campus Safety, Residence Life, Counseling Services, Title IX, and Academic Affairs
- Participate in behavioral intervention or threat assessment processes as needed
- Support coordinated responses to student behavior concerns
- Respond to student behavioral incidents, including conflict and elevated-risk situations
- Assess incidents and implement appropriate interventions in consultation with the Dean of Students
- Support crisis response efforts within the Division of Student Affairs
- Develop and implement educational sanctions and restorative practices
- Facilitate workshops and interventions that promote accountability and decision-making
- Evaluate the effectiveness of outcomes in supporting student development
- Assist in training student conduct board members, Resident Assistants, and campus partners
- Conduct outreach on student rights, responsibilities, and the conduct process
- Support new student orientation and ongoing policy education initiatives
- Uphold and enforce the Lane College Student Code of Conduct
- Assist in reviewing and updating conduct policies and procedures
- Promote initiatives that reinforce a positive and accountable campus culture
- Support adherence to institutional policies and federal regulations, including FERPA and Clery-related responsibilities
- Assist with reporting requirements and internal audits as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive student information
- Partner with campus offices to connect students with support resources
- Address behavioral concerns that may impact academic success
- Promote a balanced approach that integrates accountability with student support and retention
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field
- One to three years of experience in student affairs, student conduct, residence life, or a related area
- Knowledge of student conduct practices and higher education policies
- Strong communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills
- Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field
- Experience serving as a hearing officer or managing student conduct cases
- Familiarity with case management systems (e.g., Maxient)
- Experience with restorative justice or educational sanctioning practices
