The Registrar provides effective and innovative leadership for the development, implementation, and management of a team and systems related to academic records, course inventory, course catalogs, class scheduling, and student registration. The Registrar directs, organizes and manages all of the activities related to the Academic Center, including serving as the official authorized keeper of the university's student records. This position collaborates with academic units and select administrative departments in the strategic planning and implementation of those plans in achieving students' academic success.

Job Duties

1. Provide vision, innovative leadership, and accountability for the management of all records and registration services performed by the Office of the Registrar. Establish an Academic Center that reflects current trends in records management through the effective use of technology.

2. Direct the operations of the Academic Center. Oversight responsibilities include the following:

* Provide a central and consistent registration operation, develop and maintain policies and practices for registration management, and interpret registration management practices to students, faculty, parents and other constituencies.

* Maintain student enrollment records and transcripts within FERPA guidelines, process grades, and administer the awarding of Advanced Placement and other testing credits. Supervise the coordination, evaluation and certification of all graduation applications, grade sheet forms, etc.

* Collaborate with the appropriate departments to facilitate timely evaluation of transfer credit. Design and maintain a transcript evaluation process that represents best practices in enrollment management. Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of the process in conjunction with enrollment management personnel.

* Supervise the preparation of course schedules. Review course scheduling practices on an ongoing basis to ensure efficient use of class day and academic facilities. Compile and publish the University Undergraduate and Graduate University Catalogue, Academic Calendar, and Semester Schedules in a timely manner.

* Collaborate with the director for institutional effectiveness in academic and student data for institutional research including preparing and publishing official enrollment statistics, IPEDS reports, and other related activities.

* Ensure compliance with academic, regulatory, NCAA and all accreditation policies and requirements (i.e., policies such as credit hour, program length, and athlete eligibility).

3. Lead and manage Academic Center staff, including hiring, performance management, scheduling, and professional development. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, service excellence, and staff training.

4. Provide leadership in the full and effective use of existing technology systems to support the management of student registration and records. Monitor developments in related technology and develop appropriate recommendations in support of enhanced services to students and the University.

5. Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and security of student academic record information in accordance with the University's retention policy, and the best practices as established by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Establish and maintain policies and procedures to back-up and archive student academic records.

6. Communicate effectively with the Provost, VP for Academic Administration, Deans, and Department Chairs, on policy determination, procedure changes, course transfer credit, articulation agreements and registration procedures.

7. Lead the resolution of complex student issues related to academic records and registration through research, analysis, and sound judgment.

8. Assist with preparations for commencement exercises and awards day and participate on stage in such exercises.
