Position DetailsThis position involves planning, preparing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and serving as an academic advisor for students. The incumbent participates in program development and evaluation, and participates on other college committees and activities as needed.
Essential Functions- Formulate course goals and objectives for each class and clinical
- Organize and recommend course content
- Recommend teaching methods
- Recommend textbooks and other teaching materials
- Plan classroom and clinical assignments
- Create examinations
- Conduct classroom instruction using other methods of instruction, in addition to lecture
- Provide feedback to students regarding their performance within a reasonable period of time
- Provide current, organized classroom and clinical instruction utilizing sound comprehensive knowledge of general nursing subjects, theories of learning, and appropriate teaching strategies
- Supervise and evaluate student learning in the clinical, laboratory, and classroom environments
- Cooperate and collaborate with the clinical site’s staff, peers in nursing, and other college divisions to meet students’ learning needs and objectives
- Provide a climate for students that is conducive for learning
- Foster productive working relationships between the college and health agencies and between college and the public while interpreting philosophy, student outcomes, policies, and procedures to agencies personnel, clients, students, and the public
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a course or learning level
Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing and a valid Illinois Registered Nurse License. Two years’ experience in clinical nursing practice.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated written and oral communication skills, analytical skills; familiarity with state requirements for the health care industry and capable of adapting rapidly to a variety of situations.
Preferred QualificationsTwo years teaching experience preferred.
Physical DemandsOperate standard office equipment such as phone and computer on a frequent basis. Receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Occasional irregular hours and travel. Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
Salary$825-$950 per equated hour, commensurate with experience. Salary will change with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
