Middle School Teacher
Middle School Teacher reports to the building principal. The job goal is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Qualifications and training include a bachelor's degree as required by the State of Tennessee, a teacher's certificate with a qualifying endorsement area, and FBI/TBI fingerprint/background clearance every five years. Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance responsibilities include conducting and maintaining a highly organized and professionally functioning classroom, maintaining ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students, collaborating with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches, implementing curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with TN State standards including understanding, modeling and encouragement of independent thinking skills, creative problem solving and abstract reasoning, showing empathy and understanding of students, proactively resolving problems that might arise with students and parents, facilitating parent/student/teacher conferences, continuing professional development, following policies established by Jackson Madison County School Board and Tennessee State Department of Education, and performing other related duties as assigned.
