Enrollment Counselor
This position is responsible for recruiting undergraduate students to Union, securing them as enrolled University students, and serving as an enrollment advisor to these students.
Serve as an enrollment advisor and the primary contact person for prospective students through the initial admissions, financial aid, and enrollment processes. This will include the initial awarding of scholarship assistance and extensive advising on matters related to financial aid, cost, financial planning, and payment plans. Recruit and enroll a pre-determined number of qualified undergraduate students from a well-defined geographical area.
Maintain records of contact and follow-up communication regarding prospective students within recruitment territories. Conduct on-site visits to high schools and represent Union University at career fairs, college nights, and church programs. This may involve extensive travel. Provide extensive personal follow-up to prospective students and their families through ongoing email, letters, and telephone calls. Personal follow-up is essential at each stage of the enrollment process.
Plan regional recruiting receptions for prospective students and their parents to meet with Union University administrators and faculty to discuss issues related to financial planning, academic interests, and the overall enrollment process. Coordinate the follow-up procedures necessary to obtain all enrollment forms needed to complete the application process. Evaluate Admission files for recommendation to the Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions.
Seek networking opportunities to build relationships that will expand Union's influence in new student markets and strengthen those in existing markets. Realize that Enrollment Counselors are front-line ambassadors for the University. A prospective student's image of Union University is many times formed by the conduct, conversation, and appearance of Enrollment Counselors. Enrollment Counselors are expected to represent the University in a professional and intentionally Christian manner.
Assist with other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions and the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Services.
Union University is committed to strict compliance with any and all rules and regulations of the NCAA and the Gulf South Conference. An infraction by the employee of any rule or regulation of the NCAA or the Gulf South Conference will render the employee subject to progressive disciplinary action including, but not limited to, immediate termination of employment. Infraction of any rule or regulation of the NCAA or the Gulf South Conference shall include any infraction whatsoever, whether intentional or unintentional.
Union University is also committed to strict compliance with any and all rules and regulations of the Higher Education Act (HEA), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and including the use of FAFSA information. An infraction (intentional or unintentional) by the employee of any rule or regulation of these acts or violation of the University's FERPA policy will result in progressive disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and relevant work and/or life experience that will result in demonstrated successful recruitment. Also required is a passion for Christian Higher Education; a strong personal commitment to Christ, a strong work ethic with excellent organization and interpersonal skills; a high degree of initiative and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and other office technology are also required. Counselors will need access to reliable transportation and must have a willingness and ability to travel.
Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to customer service, the ability to work in a fast-paced college environment, and the ability to follow directions with minimum guidelines and supervision.
Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University's Identity, Mission, Statement of Faith and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
