This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the School Age Site Director, the part-time School Age Group Leader is responsible for implementing activities and executing daily lesson plans for the School Age Before and After School sites and Summer Programs.

The School Age Group Leader will work with other site staff to foster children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth.

Essential functions include modeling the YMCA core values, setting up and transforming program spaces, leading groups of children in activities, following safety standards, assisting in curriculum planning, attending staff meetings, controlling supplies, monitoring licensing standards, maintaining positive relationships, and assuming duties as directed by the Site Director.

YMCA leadership competencies include mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness, personal growth, and behavioral characteristics such as being welcoming, nurturing, determined, hopeful, and genuine.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities include passion for the YMCA mission, an enthusiastic personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills, conflict resolution skills, sound judgment, initiative, organization, confidentiality, background checks, age requirement, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications required before a new hire is scheduled to work include new hire orientation training, background disclosure, abuse registry check, physical health form, proof of education, past employment reference, TN program-specific trainings, and CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Annual training requirements must also be maintained.

Work schedule is flexible and may vary per the needs of specific before and after sites. Before care is from 6:30 am until the start of school, and after care is from the end of school until 6:30 pm. This part-time position is a split shift position that takes place Monday
- Friday during before school and/or after school hours.

Work environment and physical demands include climbing, sitting, reaching, crouching or crawling, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping; exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms, some chemical elements, extreme weather conditions; ability to lift up to 40 pounds; and noise level usually minimal to moderate.

Information security and sensitivity conditions include elevated security permissions, access to sensitive and confidential information, periodic system audits, protection of sensitive communications, and disciplinary action for non-compliance.
