JOB TITLE - EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER

Under limited supervision, the teacher employs classroom management techniques that create an atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning. Provides instruction to elementary students in assigned areas and reports to the principal.

Objectives

  • Provide prepared, sufficient lesson plans for instructional delivery.
  • Care for materials and equipment and communicate classroom needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain punctuality and professional conduct; arrive on time and stay for the assigned work period.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, students, and administration.
  • Be receptive to guidance and strive to improve professional skills.
  • Share ideas, plans, materials, and facilities as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act in accordance with district, school, and legal requirements.
  • Respect the rights and differences of individuals and address situations directly with involved parties.
  • Comply with state and local restrictions related to controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, and dress; do not harass or use profanity with students; no sexual contact with students.

Standards and Planning

  • Provide content with current subject matter knowledge and check understanding throughout the lesson.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher. Valid South Carolina teacher's certificate in the assigned teaching area. Other alternatives as determined by the Board.
