Engineer 1 - Fuel Process Engineering
Position OverviewResponsible for routine engineering assignments applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria under guidance of a manager or experienced engineer. Assignments are designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, and work is reviewed for compliance with contract technical requirements and division policies. The manager screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non‑routine work.

Your Day to Day as an Engineer 1- Evaluates situations, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor modifications.
- Plans and investigates limited possibilities for assignments with clear objectives.
- Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives and complex features, and reviews work for sound professional judgment.
- Performs work involving conventional plans, investigations, structures or equipment with relatively few complex features.
- Prepares written reports, drawings/sketches, and technical documents (Technical Basis, Change Requests, Equivalencies, Set Points, etc.).
- Designs and conducts tests or experiments; evaluates and correlates data; organizes and plans work.
- Applies understanding of manufacturing technology, technical process specifications, engineering policies, QC procedures, and customer needs.
- Develops ability to interpret technical specifications, conduct meetings, interact with customers, vendors, and other department representatives, and prepare time and cost estimates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. No experience required.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information in writing and verbally.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multifunctional team.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
