Job Summary
Coordinates, schedules, and manages the daily activities of the Product Development Electrical Design team, responsible for developing and creating parametric models and assemblies using CAD for various types of HVAC equipment, including conceptual designs.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules and manages the daily tasks of the Electrical Design team to ensure timely project completion.
- Supervises Electrical Designers in collaboration with the Manager of Design and Design Engineers.
- Provides technical and team leadership through coaching and mentorship, acting as liaison between the team and the Manager of Design.
- Reviews schematics and makes design recommendations.
- Collaborates with other designers and engineers to ensure electrical system designs integrate seamlessly with other systems.
- Collaborates with Engineers, management, and creative departments to determine design solutions.
- Supports the production team during prototypes and production launches, serving as the primary contact for manufacturing issues.
- Explores and implements new ideas and technologies.
- Maintains pace with in‑house order processing (SPAS).
- Partner with the Design Engineering team to develop design standards.
- Collaborates with engineering management to complete assigned projects.
- Produces complete bills of material, defining when, where, and why specific parts are used.
- Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations and testing.
- Complies with safety standards, including UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with 5 years’ experience in HVAC or a similar industry, or a two‑year technical degree with 10 years’ experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in electrical and controls analysis of assemblies.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
- Effective decision‑making and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent multi‑tasking, organizational, and time‑management capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure team environment.
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal temperature variations, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled office setting.
- Occasional travel as required.
